Romantic National Parks in the United States

Islands are the usual places to say “I do”, but for those couples looking for great setting alternatives for dating or proposals, lovely national parks will do.

Here are some of our picks:


  • Yosemite National Park

Yosemite National Park is clad by soaring mountains, pristine waterfalls, streams, rivers, lush wilderness and granite cliff walls reason why it draws large crowds and tourists.  Entrance fee per vehicle is $20 but there is also a free shuttle available year round. One of the favorite activities here is walking among the Giant Sequoias and chasing waterfalls. Bridalveil Waterfall is a top pick for photo shoots of brides and grooms. It reaches a height of about 620 feet and gushes into its basins. Wedding events are only allowed at the foot of Bridalveil Falls during 8:00 AM to 12:00 PM from June to September.


  • Great Smoky Mountain National Park 

This National Park is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and a major tourist spot.  One of its more popular attractions is Cades Cove which was the heart of the Smoky Mountains village.  It is clad by limestone rocks and sandstone. Though the original inhabitants here have left, the churches they built remained which are now being used for wedding ceremonies.  You will never run out of activities while inside the confines of Great Smoky Mountain National Park. Whether you are into hiking, horseback riding, fishing or you just simply want to go sight-seeing; you’ll surely love it here.  Apart from being a UNESCO World Heritage Site, Great Smoky National Park is also part of the Southern Appalachian Biosphere Reserve and was selected as an International Biosphere Reserve.

  • Grand Teton National Park 

Situated in Wyoming, the Grand Teton National Park is home to the snow-peaked Teton Range. Popular activities here include cross-country skiing, boating, fishing, hiking and camping. For couples, take a boat at the Jenny Lake Visitor Center to take you to Mount St. John.  Follow the trail to Inspiration Point where you’ll get a scenic view of Hidden Falls.  At the Inspiration Point there is a breathtaking viewpoint of Jenny Lake with Mount St. John as backdrop; this is a popular spot for proposals. Wedding ceremonies are also often held at Signal Mountain summit and at the Chapel of Transfiguration at the Menors Ferry Historic District.

  • Virgin Islands National Park

Known for its gorgeous diving sites and breathtaking landscape that are perfect for hiking, the Virgin Islands National Park is one of the top picks in the US for wedding ceremonies.  Some of the park’s famous hiking destinations are the Bordeaux Mountain, the Reef Bay Trail and Cinnamon Bay Nature Trail.  Trunks Bay Beach also beckons tourists due to its white sand beach and kaleidoscopic marine life. It is blessed with turquoise and emerald waters and flanked by swaying palm trees. It is also a popular choice for couples wanting to have a perfect beach wedding.
